Grand Opening Best Practices
Before the Event
  • Provide SET three possible dates, minimum of 90 days out to allow time to secure executives' calendars.

  • Once date is secured, notify Chamber of Commerce, Mayor, Government Officials, etc.

  • Create a social media campaign to announce and promote your grand opening.

  • Post construction progress photos on your website, Facebook, IG etc. throughout the build process to create excitement and awareness.

  • Have a ribbon for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

  • Plan a facility tour for the guests.

  • Provide a table, with cloth, for grand opening plaque and Katana Sword.

  • Consider hiring a professional photographer to capture key speakers for press releases.

  • Name tags are recommended for all attendees (SET Attendees will have name tags with them).
Day of the Event
  • Provide transportation for out of town guests.

  • Clear a parking area for the guests.

  • If business offices are a part of the facility tour, make sure all private information is secured and desks are cleared.

  • Provide a podium and quality microphone close to the "Katana table" for announcements and Katana presentation.

  • Silence music and paging systems during executive speeches. Transfer phones to an office off of the showroom.

  • Provide food and beverages for the guests.
Trade Journal / Newspaper / Automotive News Image Requirements
  • "Tight" shots (posed close together) of dealer principal and/or general manager and SET executives (NO more than four people per shot for newspaper. NO more than three people per shot for Automotive News).

Katana Sword Definition / Meaning

Japanese swords called a "katana," used by samurai warriors, are world famous because of their superior quality.

Particularly in the 12th and 13th centuries, great sword-smiths produced the katana. "Good swords" could not bend our break and had to be sharp and strong enough to cut through anything.

The katana became more than a weapon and is now considered more of an art masterpiece and a family treasure.

Today, the katana symbolizes the strength, quality, and integrity of the Toyota Dealer.
